Blended gifts combine current and major gifts with planned gifts. Why might a donor be interested in a blended gift? Many donors are able to maximize their giving with a combination major and planned gift. The “double ask” is now common in most capital campaigns. When individuals decide to create an endowment with a major gift, they often want to ensure that their gift continues into the future and creates a legacy.
This presentation will contain specific examples of blended gifts from Penn State University’s current campaign from trustees, business owners, and investors; discuss the role of the embedded gift officer; and provide several vignettes to help identify and discuss potential blended gifts with donors. Blended gifts are the future of planned giving!
